The texts Opening of an Art Gallery and The Astrakhan Gioconda were published by Velimir Khlebnikov in the political-military newspaper of his hometown, The Red Soldier, between September and December 1918, during a stay of the poet at his parents’ house from August 1918 to January 1919. At the time, he published four short texts, two of which were now translated.
