The Russian symbolist movement was based on the creation by its authors of systems to create and recreate meanings in their narratives. The Unusual Symbol is the meaning of an idea with the use of unusual elements, the symbol being a universal and particular vehicle, and the unusual being aspects of reality that deviate from ‘normality’. In this sense, this work aims to analyze the behaviour of the figure of Nedotykomka, from the novel The Petty Demon, as the unusual symbol chosen by the author, Fyodor Sologub, to represent and signify, through the establishment of the real and the use of elements of the fantastic, the madness and evil that plagues Peredónov's character.
