The article seeks to trace the trajectory of the life and work of the Ukrainian poet Vasyl Stus, establishing parallels between his rich poetic production and the vicissitudes of his life during the USSR. The dense erudition of the poet raises the Ukrainian language and poetry to the level of the great cultures and languages of Europe.
