We propose to read Tolstoy's novel Resurrection as allowing us to think about ethical conversion, that is, the metamorphosis of an ordinarily selfish and self-interested individual into a man acting in favor of others – which would be a possible incarnation of Levinas's thought, explicitly influenced by Tolstoy's work.
