Abstract

This article aims to think about some procedures in contemporary dance, taking as base some of the performances created by the choreographer Jérôme Bel, presented in Brazil in 2016: The show must go on and Gala. Such spectacles show strategies that question fixed discourses of dance creation and provoke the spectator’s expectations, involving amateurs, professionals and public during the performance. Authors such as Erika Fischer-Lichte, Óscar Cornago and Geisha Fontaine here will be some of the references in thoughts about theatricality and procedures in contemporary dance.
