Speculations on illusion and reality, attempting to understand how the language of film, based on the illusion of movement and the editing gimmicks, can be considered capable of reproducing reality or even of giving the impression of reality. The documentarian's impulse contradicts the difficulty we have of acting moved by that which we observe. Paradoxes pile up and are aggravated when the magic of the moving image is associated with it's value as a testimony or document. Once the intrinsically illusory character of film language is established, the intersection between fiction and the documentary widens, leading to a cinema based on interaction where the ethical commitment of the documentarian comes to play a major role.Downloads
