Abstract

This text is thefourth often essays which make up “A luz do sol da canção ” [the suns lightsong], a thesis on solar symbolism atBrazilian contemporary popular song. The essay develops a formal analysis based on the semiotic theory of Luiz Tatit and also shows links between “Cores vivas” ’ [Live colours] and solar symbols founded on traditional civilizations.Gilberto Gils songcan be interpreted as a celebration ofthe midday sun, the realm ofthe “white light” (Albedo)
