This essay analyses “O espelho” by Machado de Assis and attempts to link a number of the various “levels of reality” which are present in the story through the image of the set of mirrors and connect this story to other narratives of Machado. It tries to understand the different aspects of the protagonist: the narrator of the story itself a kind of alter ego of the author; a member of the Brazilian capitalist bourgeoisie, and also emphasizes the demoniacal side of the protagonist.Descargas
