Abstract

A new modality of speech, associated with a new qualification of subjective time and historical time, is an essential characteristic of the book Sentimento do mundo, by Carlos Drummond de Andrade. In order to
analyze it, the article proceeds to the investigation of the rhythms and images valued in the poems, driven
by the force of the “associationism” between images and concepts and by the dynamics of figures that value
the “porosity” or dramatic alternation between the gravitational forces of the personal lyricism and the collective appeals.
