Resumen

This article provides a panoramic view of the critical studies and publications of Machado de Assis newspaper columns, establishing as a landmark the critical debates and the publications since 1980. Based on the premise that these columns, although often difficult, are valuable instruments to understand the work of Machado de Assis and his ideas, in the second part of the article, we focus on the most recent studies of these texts. Considering that both the columns and the related criticism are not yet systematically gathered and organized, the goal of this article is to reveal, in the most organized way possible, the current access and readability of Machado de Assis’ newspaper columns, as well as give continuity to and serve as reference for the critic debate around them
