Leitura, escrita e crítica em "Aurora sem dia"

Résumé

This article analyzes the short story “Aurora sem dia ” which was originally published in Jornal das Famílias in 1870 and was reused by Machado de Assis in Histórias da meia-noite (1873), using as a background Machados critical work written in the 1860s, more specifically his critical project to form the readers' taste. This project was put into practice with the series “Sem ana literária” The analysis will focus on literary questions contained in the text, exam ining in greater detail what type of writer and reader, and, in consequence, what type of writing and reading, are being satirized and criticized and the theoretical and critical bases of such satire
