Focus and Scope

EDITORIAL POLICY AND PUBLICATION STANDARDS

TradTerm welcomes theoretical or applied studies from any area pertinent to translation and terminology, provided they are original contributions, in the form of articles (maximum 50,000 characters with spaces), reviews (maximum 10,000 characters with spaces), debates and others. At the discretion of the Editorial Board, articles already published but out of print may be submitted. The journal does not charge submission or publication fees.

Peer Review Process

TradTerm reserves the right to submit all originals to the Publishing Committee and the Editorial Board, which have full authority to decide on their acceptance, and may return them to the authors with suggestions to make the necessary changes in the text and/or to adapt the texts to the editorial standards of the Journal.


The articles will be judged by two ad hoc referees (peer review). In case of divergent evaluations, a third critical review will be made. With the blind review system, the names of the reviewers will remain confidential, and the authors' names will also be withheld.

This journal offers immediate free access to its contents, following the principle that making scientific knowledge freely available to the public provides greater worldwide democratization of knowledge.

The History of TradTerm

TradTerm is published by CITRAT-USP (Interdepartmental Center for Translation and Terminology), and publishes articles dedicated to translation and terminology studies.

Since its creation in 1994 the journal has examined a wide variety of topics, among them theoretical and practical aspects of translation, literary and poetic translation, legal and technical translation, translation in business, translation of comics and humour, audiovisual translation, electronic tools, corpus linguistics, terminology, and conference interpreting.

In two decades of activity TradTerm has consolidated its position as a reference in its field of knowledge, receiving contributions from scholars from various Brazilian institutions, from all over the Americas, and from several European countries, including Germany, Spain, Finland, France, Italy and Norway.

To do justice to the growing academic interest in subjects related to translation and terminology, TradTerm began to be published biannually in 2010, and in 2011 it migrated to the electronic environment, bringing even greater visibility to the contributions published in it, as well as facilitating the access of interested parties to the articles of the current and previous editions.
