Abstract

Institution and Structure are the main concepts used in Sociology to define entities at the macro level of social life; however, in sociological theory, there are currents that privilege only one of them as determinant to explain collective social entities. After the study presents a prior ontological determination highlighting the deontological characteristics of the Institution concept and the mesological characteristics of the Structure concept, it describes how Weber's sociological method encompasses these two aspects. Finally, the study details how the multidimensional nature of Weberian analysis provides us with a theoretical platform to integrate these two aspects of the macro-collective level into a single analytical framework.
