A atuação da terapia ocupacional com pacientes com diabetes tipo 2: uma revisão de literatura

Dentre os tipos de diabetes, a do tipo 2 é a que mais acomete os pacientes adultos, sendo responsável por 90-95% dos casos. Além das complicações diretamente relacionadas à diabetes, algumas comorbidades podem surgir sem ter relação direta com a doença. Pacientes negligentes no autocuidado e sem acompanhamento regular apresentam maior probabilidade de apresentar complicações e são mais suscetíveis a desenvolver incapacidades funcionais. Diversos profissionais podem atuar no tratamento destes pacientes, orientando quanto aos cuidados medicamentosos e adesão às atividades de autocuidado, entre eles o terapeuta ocupacional. Objetivo: Analisar a atuação da Terapia Ocupacional em pacientes com Diabetes Tipo 2. Métodos: Foi realizada análise da literatura, com pesquisa no PubMed, Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde (Bireme) e Scopus, dos artigos publicados entre 2012 a 2017, em português e inglês. Foram elaboradas estratégias de busca utilizando os blocos de conceitos "Diabetes Tipo 2" e "Terapia Ocupacional". Resultados: Foram encontrados 593 artigos por meio da busca com os descritores selecionados e aplicações de filtros. Segundo os critérios de elegibilidade, foram selecionados 14 artigos para análise. Percebe-se que a atuação do terapeuta ocupacional com esta clientela tem sido pautada na integração e inserção realista de práticas de autocuidado em uma rotina mais estruturada e organizada. Conclusão: O terapeuta ocupacional pode auxiliar na melhora da funcionalidade, tanto no desempenho quanto na participação da vida diária dos pacientes diabéticos, utilizando-se de estratégias como adaptações e modificações do ambiente, da rotina e dos objetos.
