Abstract

It was studied 14 spastic hemiparetic patients, with dynamic equines and age between 3 and 9 years old. The patients were distributed in 2 groups: Group I – 7 children that received botulinum toxin type A (BTX A) injections in the gastrocnemius and soleus muscles and also kinesiotherapic treatment; Group II – 7 children that received only the kinesiotherapic treatment. The data analysed were: the ankle range of motion, muscle tone, the action of tibialis anterior muscle, the velocity, cadence and the gait observational analysis and the parents degree of satisfaction. The statistical analysis showed that in Group I all data were improved in a short time. In Group II the data were not improved in the same period of time, but there were some improvements on some data in a longer period of time.
