Abstract

This revision study the subject about heterotopic ossification (HO) relationed with spinal cord injury. There is recent datas about incidence, etiology, clinical findings, diagnoses methods, prevention and treatment. The etiology of HO is not known and there aren’t a consense about their treatment, but if the early diagnose is done and the adequate treatment be institute, we can stop the evolution of the ossification, completely or partially. In the absence of early treatment, the couse can be towards a complete ankylosis, relation or not with great functional impaireds.
