Author Guidelines

All articles, reviews and notes on field studies, theses and dissertations should be indexed without any reference to the authors in the text or the file name.We accept submissions in Portuguese, English, Spanish and French.

 

I – ARTICLES AND ESSAYS


A – Articles and essays must present a minimum of 15 and a maximum of 25 pages in 1.5 space lining, including figures (maps, illustrations, photographs, graphs, etc.), charts, notes, bibliographical references and abstracts, composed in Word for Windows, size 12, Times New Roman font, superior, inferior, left and right margins in 3 cm, according to the model in the link: https://bit.ly/2Hr1L9r     


B – Articles should be submitted with the Portuguese language properly corrected. Articles that do not meet this requirement shall be refused.


C – The header should contain the title and subtitle (if this is the case) of the work. The text may be indicatively structured with an introduction, development, and final considerations, respecting the particularities of different kinds of research.   

 


D – The texts must be accompanied by an abstract in Portuguese of up to 600 characters and 3 keywords identifying the content of the work. The same abstract and keywords must be presented in English and Spanish. Abstracts and keywords should appear at the beginning of the article right after its title.  


E – Photographs, drawings, maps, graphs must appear in the main text with the generic denomination of figure, ordered with Arabic numbers. Tables must also be numbered the same way.

 

F – Notes should mostly be avoided and only used if necessary. They must be numbered sequentially throughout the text.

 

G – References should appear in the final section of the work, alphabetically ordered, following ABNT norms (works that do not follow ABNT norms shall be refused). For purposes of illustration, we indicate some examples of bibliographical references below:


  • Book: AUTHOR’S LAST NAME, First Name. Title. Edition. Place of publication: Publisher, year. Pages or volumes.

  • Thesis or dissertation: AUTHOR’S LAST NAME, First Name. Title. Year. Pages or volumes. Type of work (degree and concentration area) – Teaching Unit, Institution where the work was presented.

  • Articles in Journals: AUTHOR’S LAST NAME, First Name. Title of the article. Title of the Journal, place of publication, number of the volume, number of the fascicle, initial and final pages of the article, date.

  • Works presented in events: AUTHOR’S LAST NAME, First Name. Title of the article. In: TITLE OF THE EVENT, number, year of implementation and place where it occurred. Title of the publication. Place: Publisher, year. Indication of the referenced part.


H – All bibliographical references in the text shall appear in parentheses, indicating the author’s last name, date of publication and the page number. E.g.: (George, 1973, p. 68)

 

II - INTERVIEWS

A – They must follow the same recommendations for articles, adding the date and place of the interview and the interviewee’s information.

B – Questions and answers must be preceded by the interviewer and interviewee’s initials, respectively.

 

III - NOTES


A – This section will accept texts about accomplished scientific events, fieldwork reports, communications on ongoing researches, among others.

  

B – They must follow the same recommendations for articles.


IV – REVIEWS


A – This section will accept informative reviews of works (book, book chapter, specialized journal, an article in a specialized journal, theses and dissertations, among others) of interest to geographic science, accompanied or not by critical appreciation.   

 

B – They must follow the same recommendations for articles.

 

C – The complete data of the work reviewed must be sent. A copy in digital media (with high quality) of the cover/front page of the work reviewed should also be presented.
