Building Information Modeling (BIM) is considered a disruptive innovation, since it profoundly improves the technical solutions of an organization. The implementation of this innovation, however, is replete with challenges. Assessing the development of BIM implementation by measuring maturity can help organizations, which come to know their own expertise and to identify the next evolutionary steps. Although, considering several maturity models internationally developed, there are no studies that proves the applicability of these tools in the Brazilian context. Hence, this research aims to analyze three models - BIM Assessment Profile, BIM Maturity Matrix and VDC Scorecard - to disseminate the use of these tools. Comparative procedures and field studies were the research methods used. The models were examined based on the analysis of the metrics and basic principles, applied in nine organizations of the AEC of Curitiba-PR, distinguishing the application features, and finally, the quality characteristics of each one were pointed out. The results indicate that all of them present procedural, technical and people issues. BIM Assessment Profile demonstrates basic qualities, simple and flexible, suitable for organizations that are in the early stages of adopting BIM. BIM Maturity Matrix, also of a basic, simple and flexible character, is indicated for small or medium organizations. Meanwhile, VDC Scorecard, the most complex one, has basic, descriptive and prescriptive characteristics, and despite being the least flexible, it is the most extensive one. The practical applications had provided results by identifying the degree of BIM maturity of the companies and evaluated projects.
