This article discusses some aspects of the anthropological study of the brazilian state. The argumentation is based on the statements of two very different ethnographic experiences: while the subject of the first one is the army, the second one deals with consumer defense agencies. On this aim, the article develops a preliminary reflection about theoretical and methodological problems related to this kind of investigation in our own society.Downloads
