Some physics of the high and long jump

In this paper we show a simple model developed to describe the high and long jump. The model is based on the maximum energy an athlete can produce using single leg. Conservation of angular momentum is used to explain why an athlete should run horizontally before the vertical jump. The obtained results agree with observations.Downloads
