On learning the rules or training the skills necessary for sports performance, the cognitive aspects involving memory and attention are crucial. Despite this, little is said about which are the biological bases of cognition and how these can be handled on sports performance. The present revision intends to characterize some cognitive aspects and their relation with sports performance. In this sense, three aspects are important (1) characterize neuropsychological models of attention and memory, (2) how the interaction of these functions applies to training modules for motor imagination and (3) how one could analyze cognitive aspects of sports performance of athletes, with varying degrees of skill, dexterity and experience, to elaborate specifics trainings and identify athletes based on cognitive characteristicsDownloads
