Abstract

We live in a time when neuroscience is fashionable. This leads many groups to seek the opportunity to co-opt neuroscience for their own interest, often doing this in questionable ways. Psychology becomes neuroscience, neuroscientists become consultants for every possible matter and the neuro- prefix is almost guaranteed to get you more sales. In the state we find ourselves, it’s hard for the public to distinguish the real advances of neuroscience from the product of interests other than informing the public in an accurate manner. In this article, this problem is discussed along with some of its causes and tentative solutions
