The article analyses the representations of the presence of fifty Brazilian natives in the Henry II entry into Rouen, France, in 1550. The main source of these representations is the book C’est la deduction du sumptueux ordre plaifantz (...), printed in 1551, where there are both a textual and an iconographic representation of the theater played by the Tupinamba indians. The aim of the analysis is to reveal how the glowing terms used to depict the alliance between the Tupinamba indians and the Normans hide the intention to explore the Brazilian natives workforce by the French conquerors.
