John Cassavetes, Staging, SensationAbstract
This article was developed during the research project “The Drama of Objects: Cinema and Painting”, coordinated by Denilson Lopes, Senior Lecturer at ECO-UFRJ. It begins with the question: “Is it possible to translate the construction of a scene by using theories directed, initially, to pictorial abstractionism?”. The idea is to study the relationship between John Cassavetes’s mise-en-scène choices and the possibilities of an abstract scene generated by it. This will be analysed in the light of José Gil’s concept of “sensation”.
