Aspectos sócio-culturais da epilepsia à luz da psicodinâmica: apresentação de uma entrevista com paciente epiléptica

Abstract

The author reviews the historical and cultural situation in the determination of mental disease focusing epilepsy, making considerations on health and disease as cultural concepts. Finally, the author analyses an interview with an epileptic patient considering social and cultural aspects as viewed by psychedynamics. One of the conclusions refers to the need of enlightening the community regarding epilepsy so that the population may accept and understand the epileptic patient.
