Abstract

The purpose of this investigation was to verify whether the acid fluophosphate solutions would give in young adults similar results like the ones obtained in children. In this study one topical application of acid fluophosphate solution, pH approximately 3, with 1.23% of fluoride, was done in 75 students with an average of 20 years of age. The percentage of difference between the control hemiarchs and the experimental ones was 27.66%. This reduction in the incidence of dental caries was statistically significant.
