Eternal Rome and Doomed Rome: The Myth of Saint Petersburg in "The Bronze Horseman"

This article aims to analyse the poem The bronze horseman (1833), written by Aleksandr Pushkin, as well as its contribution to the construction of the foundational myth of the city of Saint Petersburg. In order to achieve that, this investigation employs concepts tied to the semiotics of space and culture developed by Yuri Lotman and Vladimir Toporov.
