Based on the contribution of postcolonial studies for contemporary feminist critique, this paper intends to discuss gender and race representations of women’s experience in two novels: the Brazilian writer Conceição Evaristo’s Becos da memória, and O alegre canto da perdiz, from the Mozambican writer Paulina Chiziane. Through this brief comparative reading, this article underscores its option for a decolonial critique, situated within cultural systems crossed by the heritage of Portuguese colonialism.Downloads
