Abstract

This article purposes a study on the possible articulations between literary text and political thinking in Dyonélio Machado´s novels Endiabrados and Proscritos. Written between late fifties and the sixties, the novels display the sociopolitical dynamics presented in Brazil in that historical period. One of their particularities is the presence of a writer as one of the main characters. Through and around him are constructed the possibilities of discussion about the role of the intellectual in the society of classes.

    Doutor em Ciência da Literatura (UFRJ). Autor de A vida vertiginosa dos signos (2007) e A arqueologia do resíduo: os ossos do mundo sob o olhar selvagem (2013), ambos livros de ensaios. Lecionou Literatura Brasileira e Teoria da Literatura em diversas instituições nacionais (UFF; UnB) e internacionais (Universidade de Santiago de Compostela). Atualmente é professor de Literatura Brasileira no Departamento de Letras Vernáculas da UFRJ.
