Eugenio de Andrade has produced a creative dialogue with Japanese poetry in books as Ostinato rigore (1964), Obscuro dominion (1971), Matéria solar (1980) and Small format (1997), incorporating in his works lyrical compositions, characteristic features of haiku like simplicity and elemental precision, conciseness, visuality, humor, paradox and presence of nature’s image which is the principle of montage of the ideogram and experiencing an epiphany moment, obtaining a remarkable synthesis of Western and Eastern references in the light and concept of subjectivity and personal mythology.
