Abstract

In this paper, it will be investigated the role played by Minas Gerais as an intermediary place in the commerce among Brazil’s central areas, the state of São Paulo and the world’s market. It will be emphasized the specific case of cattle and grain trades, analyzed from some sources as Brazilian local newspapers, reports provided by federative states’ governments, embarkation data regarding the Mogiana Railroad Company and the records done by some Brazilian town councils.
