This article intends to present some results obtained from the study of silicified sandstones, a raw material that abounds in Southeastern Brazil. Thin sections of five samples of silicified sandstone with different degrees of knapping workability were compared, and the relantionships between the workability and the physical characteristics of the samples (roundness, sphericity, grain size, etc.) was sought. The obtained results corroborate some hypothesis about these relationships, and opened a perspective in the study of the physical behaviour of this type of raw material
