Phytosociological studies carried out in two Atlantic rain forest areas in the middle valley of the Ribeira river, show that the region presents a great ecological homogeneity, although there are some local differences. Climatic and topographic conditions of the region are appropriate for the settlement of huntergatherers, who had at their disposal a wide range of vegetable resources, mainly fruits, available at different times of the year.Downloads
