In the past ten years, the strategies used by conservative, particularly religious-based, groups to hinder or reverse laws concerning sexual and reproductive rights, equality based on sexual orientation or gender identity, changed substantially. It went from a religious-based discourse—which remain in vogue—to allegedly scientific discourses, disseminated simultaneously although separately, by pro-life non-governmental organizations, certain feminist groups and some political organizations. This article seeks to clarify this evolution to allow activists to adequately confront it.
